Fertility Acupuncture

An increasing number of people are turning to Acupuncture to help improve their natural fertility or to support them through Assisted Reproductive Techniques (ART) such as In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF), Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET), Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) and Fertility Drugs e.g. Clomid. Amanda provides tailored Acupuncture treatments for individuals and couples at any stage in their fertility journey, she offers emotional and physical support and can give advice on how to optimise fertility with diet, exercise, supplements and relaxation techniques where appropriate.

When trying to conceive naturally it is recommended to have regular Acupuncture for 3-6 months to optimise egg and sperm quality and to help manage stress/anxiety levels.

When starting an Assisted Reproductive Technique (ART) it is recommended for women and men to start having regular Acupuncture 3 months before your ART cycle starts, however it is never too late to start having Acupuncture to support you through ART. It's a stressful time and Acupuncture can help you wherever you are in the process. For women the most important times to have Acupuncture is:

  • as soon as fertility drugs are started
  • just before egg collection (IVF) or insemination (IUI) or just before embryo transfer (FET) - ideally within 48 hours
  • between egg collection and embryo transfer (IVF)
  • after embryo transfer (IVF & FET) or insemination (IUI) - ideally within 48 hours

Many women also benefit from having Acupuncture during the two week wait to help them manage their anxiety/stress levels.
